lackluster Started in '95 as a typical garage band with Jon Hayes (guitar / vocals), Ryan Botkin (bass / vocals), and Jimmy Weisbarth (drums). This lineup lasted only a few months. In '96 the band was re-formed as Hag. This lineup consisted of Jon Hayes (guitar / vocals), Jeff McMahon (bass), Pat Littrell (drums), and Jay Inamdar (2nd drummer). Hag recorded two demos. The first, with the whole band, consisted of five songs. POOR BRIAN NIGHTMARE PONGO'S DEATH SEEING DOUBLE AFTER THE FACT The second demo was recoded with Jon Hayes (guitar / bass / vocals) and Jason Craig (drums). This demo consisted of 3 songs. POOR BRIAN WHATEVER MAKES YOU SMILE FAR TOO LONG Now called Bender, the lineup changed again in '99. Jon Hayes (guitar / vocals), Justin Volk (bass) and eventually Jarrod Maille (drums). Justin left a few months later and was eventually replaced by Andy Parker. Bender recorded one CD consisting of 7 songs. TIME FLIES OVER AGAIN POOR BRIAN WISH IT ALL AWAY SEIZE THE DAY IN ABSENTIA SEVENTEEN AND INSANE as well as four unreleased tracks TILL I HEAR IT FROM YOU WE ALL FALL DOWN HEY JUDE DAFFODIL you can hear selected tracks from this recording at http://bender.iuma.com.In 2001 the "band" is reformed as Lackluster. There is no real lineup except for a few contributing parties. Plans for a demo release are currently in the works, though no exact date is available. 2002 Jon Hayes joins Borealis as a 2nd guitarist. The band plays a few shows around Washington and breaks ud shortly after. The drummer, Jason Stevens, joins Lackluster and records two songs at The Art Institue of Seattle. STUNT TOO COOL FOR YOU Jon Hayes also records a solo acoustic song entitled PROBLEMATIC. some time after a demo version of "Bad Things Happening to Good People" is recorded showcasing a more dynamic side of the band as it attempts to reach further. Though technically this song, an instrumental, is a single person and played entirely on guitar, it successfuly opens the door for future growth. Lackluster soons returns to its roots as a solo project and begins production on the forthcoming release, Problematic, the first in 3 years. Some time after, bassist Jake Johnson joins the band as Jason exits. Things seem to have come to a hault as creative styles collide. Currently Lackluster is auditioning musicians that can once again bring hope that something tangible may come of this. |
